Here's how the Diffuser fits into the Replica System to softens your light and control shadows.
The Replica System starts with connecting any two Surfaces to create a wall/table effect. There are two ways to do this:

If using Stands, lean the Diffuser against your Surface setup like this

Either way, the Diffuser should be between your light source and scene.
This is the dramatic difference the Diffuser makes. See how much softer the shadows are when you use the Diffuser? Shadows are now under your control!
If you want to brighten or darken the far side of your scene, add the Replica Light Modifier (sold separately). It's double-sided with a white side and black side.
The white side bounces light to act like a second light source.
If you photograph reflective objects, add the Replica Reflection Blocker (sold separately). It blocks unwanted reflections in shiny objects so you stop seeing yourself and your surroundings in metal and glass. This is what the full system looks like.
